Panther Band and Guard Family,
Happy Friday! We are all SO excited to see everyone this Monday, July 22, to start Summer Band for our Fall 2024 production, Drawn Upon.
With that, we have a few pieces of information that are important to get out before we see everyone in a few days.
Starting this year, in the interest of student safety, we are updating our pickup/dropoff procedures. We ask that during pickup and dropoff that drivers do not drive towards Door 14 (the main entry door to get to the Band Hall), but either park in the parking spaces closest to Door 14 or park along the curb/fire lane.
In previous years we have had students and vehicles descending on Door 14 simultaneously, which is not safe for our students on foot. Please see the attached graphic and let me know if you have any questions.
We also have one form on the website that we need everyone to electronically sign and submit. That form is the Parent/Student UIL Marching Band Acknowledgement Form, which we are required to have on file for every student by UIL.
It distills the rehearsal guidelines and restrictions from UIL into an easy-to-read form. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding anything found on this form.
Parents, if your student is going to be absent from a rehearsal (even partially), please submit an Absence Request Form. Please look ahead on your calendars and put in Absence Requests in a timely fashion. Per the form:
Excusal from any rehearsal must be approved through this form. Absences from rehearsals must be requested at least 1 week in advance if they are not due to illness.
Excusal from any performance must be approved through this form. Absences from performances must be requested at least 2 weeks in advance if they are not due to illness.
Finally, our Social Officers have come up with some fun theme (dress up) days for summer band - these will be added to the band calendar shortly. Dress up (in attire you can rehearse in!) and let's have some fun during summer band!
